Elementary School Websites: Helping Teachers Change a Classroom
By Howard Gottlieb
In the fast changing world of technology today there are so many different ways for people to share ideas and information, it is no different for teachers to do the same. As old school teachings such as chalkboards and textbooks gradually disappear, the computer and internet are entering in all classrooms in America. One way for teachers to stay on top of teaching and keeping kids excited is to visit elementary school websites that have ideas and information for all teachers to use. These websites help to create a positive and energetic experience in the elementary school classrooms.
School websites are also wonder ways to promote your elementary school fundraisers. After all one of the hardest things about elementary school fundraising is letting people know about it so they can support you.For many teachers, their days are spent with grading papers, and creating lesson plans. But what if all that time spent preparing for class could be cut in half or more? What if that time saved could be on focusing on kids one on one and help create a more relaxed atmosphere? Well look no further than helpful elementary school websites. These websites can help you to grade homework, create lesson plans or even talk to other teachers around the world and share ideas.
Nowadays, almost every home has a computer and has access to the internet. If the kids did their homework and sent it via email, it would be much faster for you. You could even create a program that could grade the kid

Where do I go if I want to find teachers looking for jobs?
I’m a high school student and my school needs several new teachers. I’m looking for math teachers, chemistry and physics teachers, engineering teachers (to teach robotics or electronics), graphic design teachers, and English teachers. I have no idea where to begin, can I get some help?
You cannot do this. your district must.
We have a nationwide shortage of math and science teachers. It could also be your location. What incentives is your district offering to attract teachers? you have to make them want to move and live there.
I teach in Los Angeles – inner city. I have had a math and science opening at my school every.single. year for the last ten. We offer pay bonuses in my district to math and science teachers who are willing to work with us – still nothing.
What are some excellent websites for teachers?
I am a college student studying to become an elementary school educator and I am interested in finding top websites used by teachers/student teachers to clarify my understanding of being and educator. I am also a mentor at an elementary school and it would be helpful if I had access to websites that include fun learning activities for elementary school children.
I know of education-world.com and pecentral.org
can anyone help me find more?
Thank you.
Check the websites for the National Education Association and the American Federation of Teachers. They have links to many sites.
Christmas gifts for teachers? [Teachers please help me!]?
I don’t normally bother giving my teachers a gift at Christmas, but this year I actually like one of them and want to get her something. I don’t want to get the usual candles or chocolates, I want something more creative and memorable. Any ideas? Especially if there are any teachers out there, what would you like to receive?
Barnes & Nobles or borders gift certificate or any other bookstore gf, how about a personalized best teacher award (recognition) plaque with her name, a coffee mug, or just a desk plaque with her name in fancy writing, a large bag to carry all her materials, a silver bracelet, a personalized pen…
Should I become a Teacher? Teachers please answer?
For all the teachers in Florida, do you like your job? I am deciding to become a teacher but everyone is telling me they don’t make a lot of money, so I am having mix feelings about becoming a teacher. If I don’t become a teacher I want to become a doctor. I know they are on the opposite sides of the pay scale but I love to help people and both jobs involve helping people. Plus, I figure teaching is less stressful but has a lot lower pay. But I am already guaranteed a job in Florida by my high school. But I would just like to know for the teachers in Florida if you have a comfortable lifestyle, your salary, and the grade you teach.
I understand what Marcy is saying about gang related topics in schools but that is one of the reasons I want to become a teacher. I want to try to make a difference in the kids lives. I want to work in a underprivledged area so I can try to make a diffence in someones life. I know what I am getting myself into when working in the school system but I want to know about pay
(This is an answer I gave to another question, but it has some informaion you might not want to hear. You get no respect from ANYBODY if you are a teacher. The kids and parents treat you like crappola. But the vacations are great!)
You think schools are teaching morals? You are living on another planet if you think that American schools are instilling any social and moral values in students. I am a high school teacher, and I can tell you that those are completely left out of the curriculum. Teachers are NOT allowed, in public schools, to make judgments about the way people choose to live their lives. We are not to comment on these things. If we do make a value judgment we are lining ourselves up for a fall. Every lifestyle and decision is valued. We read books about how Johnny has two fathers, and Mary has two mothers. We give our children novels about famous gang members to read.. (I am not kidding; our school has class sets of autobiographies of famous Black and Mexican American gang members. All the violence, swearing, drug use and sex is gloriously there in graphic black and white. The PRINCIPAL told me I should use those books, because the students can relate to them.)
You think schools are teaching morals? It should be the PARENTS who are teaching morals and values, but I have parents who are ACTIVE gang members, who get drunk every night, who teach their children how to “tag” on buildings… Parents who don’t speak English, who don’t plan on LEARNING English. I have four students who had babies this year. Their mothers were pregnant at 13 or 15, so why not them?
You think that schools are teaching morals? We are just trying to survive in the classroom, and keep the kids from killing each other. I have students that actively sell drugs on campus, that will steal anything not nailed down, and will tell you “fuuck off” to your face. I called a MOTHER to complain about a studen’ts use of the “F” word, she listened to me, then said, “Don’t bother me with that shiit!” and hung up. If you send a child to the office for discipline, the worst that will happen is that they will get a two day vacation at home and then be right back in your classroom. I just hope I get home okay at the end of the day. Last year I had a student say he was going to stab and kill me, made a fist and thrust it against my side saying, “I’m gonna stab you right there!” Two weeks ago one student stabbed another student three times. If MY student had had a knife that day I might not be around to write this response to your question.
And you think we are teaching MORALS in school… Oh please!
(Of course, besides a free education, we also give them free bus travel, free breakfast, and free lunch. Our school just put in VERY expensive vending machines that the students can walk up to, punch in their “free lunch” code, and get the nice hot meal that was placed there minutes before. This was done to help shorten the lines that they have to wait in to get their free meal. We have a rapidly growing population of “needy” students and the lines are now so long that students can’t get to the free food before the end of lunch, and of course we don’t want to inconvience anyone. I had a student two years ago tell me that he didn’t need an education because he was, “Gonna go on welfare like my mother!” By the way, the police actually came into MY classroom and arrested him, cuffed him in the room, patted him down, asked him if he had a gun, and took him away. He is now in jail for participating in a gang murder. But due to the kindness of our justice system, he will be out in three years. Let us hope the free school lunch/welfare programs that our public education system is teaching them to count on are still there for him, because thanks to the “horrible teachers”, he sure didn’t get an education.)
How much do teachers notice?
Do teacher’s notice if a student cuts their wrists? Do teacher’s talk about students to other teachers? Do teacher’s notice if a student suddenly starts acting differently?
P.S. I don’t self harm, I am purely interested as a friend does and I am curious as to whether or not a teacher will notice or step in. Of course I’ve taken action myself to help her however
If your friend wears long sleeves and keeps her wrists in a position in which they are not visible in class, the teacher may not notice at all. A teacher MAY notice if a student begins to act differently, but the behavior that teachers see may be limited, compared to what friends see. We don’t always know if a student is depressed or anxious, because we don’t always have the types of interactions with students that would allow us to see this.
As to if we talk about students with other teachers, the answer is yes. We don’t usually mention them by name, unless we are wondering about patterns in the student’s behavior and want to verify that things we have observed hold true in other classes too. For example, if I think that a student seems depressed, it could just be that the student is bored in my class. So I may ask one of her other teachers if s/he has noticed the same behavior. And different teachers may have very different impressions of a student. Two years ago, I had an outstanding student in my class. One of my colleagues, who also had her in his class, agreed that she was outstanding. However, a third colleague, who is a well-meaning person and with whom I normally agree, felt that this student was lying, cheating, and stupid, to the point where he suspected that she had someone else have a picture taken for the official records in her place, because he didn’t think the picture looked like her (it did)!
