How to Deal with Shyness – 3 Secrets for Success

If you do not know how to deal with shyness, your attitude may be misinterpreted as a sign of rudeness or a lack of interest. For example, if you are in the company of a friend’s friend and you hardly speak at all, it may be taken as a sign that you do not want to talk to them. If your friend runs to your defense and says that you are “just shy”, then that is the only time that other people will understand.

What if there is no other friend to defend your attitude? For this reason, you should know how to deal with shyness and take steps towards slowly climbing your way up in getting over it. Much like a lifelong disease, you may not completely overcome shyness that is why you should know how to deal with it and live a full life despite having this feeling. Take a look at these tips on how to deal with shyness:

1. Be comfortable with who you are

One of the main causes of shyness is feeling insecure about one’s self. All fears should be conquered from the inside. Shyness is a fear of speaking in front of a group of people out of fear of being embarrassed that is why you need to be comfortable with who you are first. Once you have a total acceptance of who you are as a person, other people will react to your renewed sense of self-confidence. In turn, once you have enough self-confidence, you will feel more comfortable facing other people in any given social situation.

I desperately need help for one of my classes! Regards media influence and women’s self image. Can you help?
Please – serious attempts at answers only. I am a college student in my senior year of my BA, studying Psychology. I am trying to collect information for a research project and paper and need as many responses as possible. Below you will find a survey which is about body image and the media’s influence. This is to be completed by American females aged 16-40 only, as that is the nature of my project. The results are not to be taken as a diagnosis, simply speculation of the referenced website. All I need you to do is to reply or email me with your answers, state, and age – for example :
    1. yes or no
    2. yes or no
    3….

Dont worry about rewriting the questions and theres no need to write anything other than yes/no, state & age… you get the picture. It shouldn’t take long at all and your answers will be confidential (I will not be using or sharing names/personal info in my project or with anyone).

    self-development advice?
i currently attend college for a BA in bussiness administration and i finish in 2009, however, i want to , well you can say broaden my horizons while im going to college, maybe side classes that’ll help me in gaining more knowledge and experience, and do you know of any special programs that specialize in CPA preparation?

    • actingnormal says:

If you can fit it in with your studies, perhaps you can intern with a CPA firm. Your university might be able to help you find an opportunity and you might be able to receive credit for the experience (you’ll also be making contacts and you can investgate the field to see if it’s right for you). There are also some sites that list internship opportunites. Good luck.

How important is self development at schooling stage?
These days all parents, just pressurise their kids, for good grades in class, and always push them for being competent. But the major part they forget is self development of their kid. The character bulding, the confidence, the moral, the fluency to talk in front of anybody. These things give problem to the kids in future. What do you think?
Narna… I appreciate your answer. Thanks
Dee.. Great answer. I appreciate. Thanks

    • Dee says:

Sense of ‘self’ is so critical, that if the foundation of one’s identity is delayed by stress and other traumas – it could be another twenty years of playing ‘catchup’. Delayed personality development is probably one of the most lonely and painful things human beings can experience. It can be so severe, that it will interfere with one’s ability to function on a day to day level, even though cognitively, they are very bright. Some inflict injuries upon themselves – not due to a real desire to harm themselves – but rather to ‘feel’ the pain to find a boundary to their being ‘real’. To emphasize,… if we don’t solidly feel substance to who we are … if we don’t have ‘ourselves’… who do we have?

how can i report in the class this self awareness?
this is the definition.. self awareness is define as an awareness of one’s own personality or individuality. but i dont know how to report infront of the class. . please help me. . i need some tips.. .

    • Psi_Kick says:

You can demonstrate self awareness in your report. What constitutes self awareness when speaking in public? Control over your self and the image you project to others through your posture, volume, appearance, clothes, attitude, etc. It’s how salesmen make a sale!

Below is a link that might give you some ideas along this line.

I hope this helps you. Best of luck. : )
