Life coaching became very common in these days and both individuals and large scale business organizations are seeking help from the life coaches.
Beside personal training coaches, there are many professional schools that are providing the training for those people who need it. The problem with this many schools is most of the instructors in these schools are not always qualified enough to deal with such a sensitive matter. Because of that, the quality is fallen. To solve the problem, a community called International Coaching Federation has recently developed. To solve the problem, a community called International Coaching Federation has recently developed.
The job of this federation is to maintain the quality of the coaching centers by selecting some ground rules for these institutes as well as monitoring whether they are following them accordingly. The job of this federation is to maintain the quality of the coaching centers by selecting some ground rules for these institutes as well as monitoring whether they are following them accordingly.
In addition to that, this federation determines the specifications for the instructors that they must have to work in the coaching institutes.
Currently there are few thousands of life coaches that are working on developing life with the clients, and the number is growing very fast as more people are getting interested in being life coach.
A matter of concern for this huge number of interested people with the interest of being a coach is many of them are only interested in earning money instead of helping the client. Internet has made it easier as now people can coach over live communication. The International Coaching Federation is working on eliminating these frauds.

Professional life coach as a stable job?
is professional life coaching a stable job? can this be your only job? if it’s not a day job, and just a side career, is it possible to have both a day job ( maybe a clinical psychologist) and a side job as a professional life coach? i find great passion helping others who are less fortunate in life or people who are struggling in general in life.
How does one become a professional life coach?
What does it take? Are there certifications? Is a license required? (I’m in the USA)
As far as I know there isn’t an official license per say of life coaching. There are hundreds of schools that offer “certification” but the trick is finding the one school that will actually train people to become actual life coaches and not just hand out a diploma. Some words of caution this field is highly competitive and you should always keep in mind YOU ARE NOT A PSYCHOLOGIST so don’t market yourself as such.I would also consider taking some psychology and counseling courses at your local community/junior college. If you show you went to school for those kinds of studies more people would be inclined to come to you.
How can I become a Life Coach/Counselor?
I am interested in Counseling. My passion is to help people solve their problems and achieve their dreams.
How can I become a professional Life Coach? Are there certain certifications or degrees that you would recommend?
I am currently looking at obtaining a Neuro Linguistic Programming ( NLP) Practitioner certification.
I would truly appreciate your help.
Hi.
Depending on the requirements in your country, you may wish to consider a Diploma or Degree in Counselling or Social Work, etc. from a reputable school/institutes to pursue counselling as a career. Couselling works pretty differently form Life Coaching as there is no strict regulation or a national standards on what makes a Life Coach. Having said that, a diploma/degree does gives a good impresssion and credibility to a person if he wants a career in Life Coaching.
As for NLP, the tools which are taught during the training are also useful in Life Coaching as well depending on how you use them.
Cheers!

How does someone become a professional Life coach?
I know that most people don’t know what a professional life coach is but it’s a profession that I have looked into for a while but just to make sure I’m not missing anything, can you help me?
Being a life coach requires the ability to listen to clients and help them find the answers they have inside them. People from many backgrounds can be positive life coaches. There are life coaching schools that teach various curriculums but many life coaches come from business, social work, therapy or other fields. The profession is unregulated at this time so it’s pretty open to people from various backgrounds. You may want to check coachfederation.org for some information and resources.
What are professional women looking for in a life coach?
I am a life and business coach. I worked as an attorney for twenty years. I believe that there are many boomer professional women out there that are well educated and have pursued their careers diligently.
Now, about 15 to 20 years into it, they feel burnt out and they feel afraid. They rely on their jobs and the income it provides but they are not happy.
I want to hear what issues they are facing and what is on their minds.
I know someone who calls herself a life coach. She preaches about all these techniques like EFT – Emotional Freedom Technique. She claims to have an advanced degree but there’s no record of education to prove it. Her personal situation is pathetic. She has no capacity for planning anything or following through on her goals. She is in severe financial distress and is losing her house due to mortgage foreclosure. Yet, she has continued to schedule some kind of life improvement classes and teach people how to live better lives.
There are women out there who can and do benefit from life coaches. Sometimes all they need is to see their life through someone else’s eyes in order to get a better perspective so they can make more informed decisions.
What a life coach needs to be is transparent. A life coach also has to be human and have flaws – and then show that those flaws are not necessarily an obstacle to success. A life coach has to be the example.
