Choosing Six Sigma as your Professional Career

Author: Chapman Black

There is an increase in career opportunities in the Six Sigma sector at various levels. Many organisations are providing new job openings in this sector to improve the overall performance of their business. There is a great scope for in-house professionals to take Six Sigma training to enhance their career as a black or green belt in this particular discipline.

Every company places emphasis on cost-effective and quality business operations to improve the foundation of the business. In such situations, Six Sigma is holding its supreme position due to its overall applicability to any type of business environment.

If a company is not able to use in-house employees, then there is the option to hire trained and experienced black belt personnel. This is possible by contacting a number of recruitment firms that can provide a list of potential candidates to handle their internal business operations effectively.

In comparison to green belt, black belt Six Sigma professionals are in higher demand in the job sector. If you want to begin your career in this sector, you can take specific training to understand the core competencies of the business. This will help you to focus on those areas that are relevant for you to perform your duties and responsibilities.

There are many recruitment firms that have information about the vacancies available in various organisations and are helping potential candidates with introductions to leading clients and career enhancing opportunities.

If you also want to grab the right opportunity, then get in touch with the recruitment agencies to accelerate your career.

CPA or CFA? I can’t decide which one will help further my career in development finance…. your thoughts??
I am a microfinance professional with 4 yrs of experience. I have a Master’s Degree in Public Policy and some training in finance. I would like to obtain formal qualifications in the field of finance to further my career in development finance. I thought CFA might be the answer but then someone mentioned that I should consider doing a CPA as it would be quicker and is more widely recognised in the dev finance arena. I’m confused – and welcome your inputs on this….

cpa is for accounting..if you plan on being a bean counter, then cpa is for you.
cfa is a 2yr program w/multiple exams you need to take in order to get to the next level.
so there is cfa level 1, cfa level 2, etc.
      i believe 4 levels total.
cfa is more useful for analysts..if you don’t have an MBA, a cfa is good street cred.

    My attitude about professional work?
    Hi,

I am having a lot of trouble adjusting my attitude to be able to find something I really want to do as a leaving and something that I’ll be good at. I have been through afew years of engineering in University, through personality type tests, counsellors and also have been completing a career development and assesment recently, how I am still worried that with time passing by I am barely able to meet my rent expenses and also might lose out on making my dreams and talents come true…what do you suggest?

Is the Opportunity for Advancement at your company important to you?
If your company does not offer many advancements or career growth is it important? Would it make you leave? Would it make you less productive or resentful??

Does your company have career ladders, succession planning, or professional development coaching?

    • angellover6056 says:

It would propbably get to me after awhile if I wasnt given the opportunity for advancement. I definately wouldn’t work so hard or put in so much effort and I know that sounds bad but I wouldn’t be motivated to

Graduate Essay: Describe your personal and career goals…?
The essay topic for a Masters of Accounting application essay I am working on is:
Describe your personal and career goals, as well as your expectations of how this degree will contribute to your professional development.

This may be an obvious question, but by personal goals, do they really want to know that I want to start a family, own a home, and increase my personal fitness level?
Or what exactly are they looking for?

    • Jen says:

While “personal goals” can be interpreted a number of ways I would recommend only writing about personal goals that tie into your career. For instance a personal goal could be to obtain a graduate level degree or to pass the CPA exam. Give it some thought, you probably could think of a few personal goals that would ultimately be helpful to you career goals (to manage a department and ultimately move into a CFO role). Good luck!
