Does anyone have insight about Professional Career Development Institute’s (PCDI) Automotive Mechanic program?
Well I haven’t taken this course, but I have looked at a number of their courses. My concern about all their courses is that while they may be a good introduction to the field, they do not really provide a thorough grounding in the field. They also do not give you supervised practice. They offer you “tools” but they are generally just simple hand tools. You don’t get the practice using the full range of equipment–front end machines, brake resurfacing machines, lifts and hydraulic tools. These objections, by the way, apply to all of the correspondance programs that I have looked at, not just PCDI.
If you want to learn auto mechanics I think you are far better off taking courses at your local community college. You can usually go part-time, courses may be offered at night, and you get hands on. Plus, you get to use the entire range of tools and equipment, not just simple hand tools. The other thing about a community college is that the cost is really quite reasonable.
Hope this helps.
Should i be concerned?
I am considering taking up classes @ PCDI (Professional Career Development Institute. I have researched the school and found it to be credible. Especially since it is accredited. My main reason for siding with PCDI is financial. It is affordable. But, i want to make sure it is worth the money. I have heard mostly good things about the school and the US department of education recognizes them as being accredited. Should I be worried?
I fiancee took classes with them. Yes, you do learn credible information, much like taking classes for an associates degree at a tech college.
His only problems with PCDI were in billing…if you’re not good about completing courses on time/schedule they tend to overcharge you. Their whole administration/billing seems a little sketchy.
Good luck!
Are Penn Foster or PCDI(Professional Career Development Institute) legitimate online schools?
Yes, my dear friend. They are legitimate. I know, because I used to work for PCDI. It’s located right here in Norcross, Georgia. I used to be an admissions specialist for PCDI. They are indeed nationally accredited.
But please keep in mind that you need to have a lot of discipline to do the studies and work on your own initiative.
Good luck! : )
Does Anyone know anyting about Professional Career Development Institute?
Currently I am a fulltime college student at Kaplan University Studying for Information technology. I am enrolled in the 4yr Bachelor program I have a 2.5 years left have earned 30 college hours out of 180. I do have Fincial aid and student loans to pay my tuition. By the time I graduate I will have accumalated around $20,000.00 worth of debt in Student loans. I’m 28 will be 31 by the time I graduate. I am currently opening my own Computer repair Bussiness and that was the whole purpose of me going to school is so that I could better myslef and get out of my dangerous job of being a REPO MAN.
I been sent infomation by a place called Professional Career Development Institute (PCDI). They have a program called “PC service and Repair” Which would go very good for my bussiness. they also offer there course online just like Kaplan. PCDI is suppose to be accreditted and when I graduate “Aprox 1 year” I will get a Diploma. The entire Program cost lest than one semester at KU
So I want to know if I should attend here and save myself from getting in to debt or if I would be wasting my time.
PCDI is backed by ASHWORTH University.
Ashworth University is not recognized- if you hang this diploma up, people may laugh at you. Even worse, you won’t get financial aid (no matter what they tell you) and the fact that it’s not a real diploma could cause problems with your business (ie. he told me he had a degree in computers, but it’s from a worthless college).
Don’t be fooled by this, check the school out and you’ll find a lot of problems. Finish your degree, there’s no easy way out.
