Be Positive Now With These 7 Easy Positive Thinking Techniques

Author: Tim Ryan

It is so easy to caught into the trap of everyday life and get dragged down by the things around us, even when we don’t want to be. Simple things like bad traffic for example can make your day go from bad to worse and easily take some of the enjoyment out of your life. So what can you do to avoid this happening? Well, here are several easy things you can do today to start you thinking positively and using the law of attraction in your favour, here they are:

1) Write a ‘to be’ list not a ‘to do’ list. ‘To do’ lists can seem never ending and annoying if you can’t get them all done, not to mention pressurising. Why not write a to do list, for example, 1. be relaxed 2. be considerate to others 3. be humourus 4. be determined and so on. Doing this can focus you really well into having a good feeling day instead of a pressurised day.

2) On waking, don’t immediately turn the television on. I am not saying do no watch the news just take some time out in the morning to mentally go through your goals, visualise what you want and focus on happy things. Doing this gets your day off on the right foot, after all do you really want to get your day off by thinking about death and destruction straight away?

3) Drop negative thoughts. Be careful with your thoughts. No-one can force you to think anything you do not want to. You have the power to select the thoughts that you want to hold on to. Why not then just let bad thoughts go and move on to a more positive thought. With practise this becomes easy and very effective to do.

4) Try to associate with positive vibrant people. This will then undoubtedly rub off on you. We have all heard of becoming a product of your environment so why not put yourself in a positive environment to start with. It’s not as difficult as you would imagine, rather than avoiding the negative people, make a point of proactively going to talk with the positive people before others start bringing you down.

5) Remember all of the things you have to be happy for. This is a great way to put you in a positive frame of mind. Are you healthy? do you have a secure job? Do you have friends? Can you see? do you live in a nice area? The answers to these and many more questions easily reveal a great deal of things to be thankful for. Make a list of them and run them through your head, I garauntee you will feel better afterwards!

6) Smile, such an easy thing to do but it has such a remarkable effect on both yourself and the people around you. In fact if you feel down, deliberately make yourself smile, apparently it literally does help change your mood due to biofeedback releasing some sort of chemical that literally makes you feel happy. Don’t believe me, have a go next time you feel down.

So there we have it six positive thinking steps to very easily make your day feel better. Go ahead and give them a try! If you can start doing these things as a matter of habit you will be thinking a good deal more positively and also feeling happier too aswell as making use of the law of attraction. It takes about thirty days to form a new habit so why not set yourself a challenge to do all of these things for the next thirty days and see what happens.

Tips for using the different sources of motivation

      Yourself

Become a Positive Thinker. Following are techniques that you can follow to become a positive thinker:
Use Motivational Self-Statements (example, “I can get done all that I have to do today”; “I can stick with it until it is successfully accomplished.”)
Play Mental Games (Example, pretend it is the first day of a new job and approach the task that you were avoiding as if this really were your first day on the job).
Focus your thoughts and block off some time for doing intense work.
Use Mental Imagery (Relax, imagine yourself struggling with a task, imagine yourself regaining composure, imagine yourself succeeding and then imagine yourself feeling good).
      Use Productive Self-Criticism.
      Give yourself meaningful goals.
      Move around to generate energy.
      Relax
Break work down into small tasks.
Monitor your behavior to examine how it affects your motivation.

      Supportive Friends, Family, and Colleagues

Develop mutually motivational relationships with friends and colleagues. Three basic characteristics of a motivational relationship are trust, suitability and availability.
Tell your friends what you are feeling.
      Reciprocate.
      Emotional Mentors

Choose as your mentor an individual who is extraordinarily motivating for you.
Choose a motivational moment in that person’s life, and relive it often.
      Call upon your mentor often.
      Your Environment

Make it as healthy and helpful as possible.
      Breathe clean air.
Tune in helpful sounds; tune out hindering sounds.
      Use light advantageously.
Surround yourself with motivationally supportive objects.
Organize your workspace so it works for you rather than against you.

how to change/overcome negative thinking patterns? CBT?
i think so negatively and it has gotten to the point where I just can’t see the point in living. i have started seeing a counsellor/psychologist but I don’t really feel I’m getting anywhere. Any advice. It’s so hard to turn it all around and sometimes I just get exhausted from the positive and negative thoughts in my brain constantly battling each other. HOW DO I CHANGE MY NEGATIVE THINKING TO POSITIVE? Techniques, strategies, exercises, success stories.. anything!?

I find when the world turns its back on me and when I whirl in sadness, those who cheer me up are my friends.

Find a support network of people who you know will always be there for you.
Think back of a happy memory, such as a funny conversation with a friend, a good movie or memory or an experience you find enjoyable.
Passion/hobbies are also an excellent thing, as they let your mind focus on what you love to do.

Also, for every negative thought you have, think a positive thought, for example “I am an amazing person and I will succeed in life”, write it down twice, and say it to yourself three times. Even if you don’t believe it (yet), drowning the negative with positive will gradually weaken the negative, and with support you can aspire to being happy and having a smile on your face.
      Best of luck! :)

“Beyond Positive Thinking: A No-Nonsense Formula for Getting the Results You Want”… in composing?
In case you hadn’t guessed, I want you to parody the market for self-help/motivational products :) Instead of Michael Jordan, though, put Beethoven in the mirror. (Have you seen the SNL sketch? “I want to be the best Michael I can be”…) I remember American Beauty doing a pretty good job of mocking “10 Steps to Success” products too.

That title is real, here is the product description: “A common-sense approach to achieving success in one’s life offers workable, step-by-step methods and positive visualization techniques to help readers personalize goals, trust creativity, transcend old beliefs and limitations, and transform positive thinking into positive action.”

If only Beethoven had had access to today’s precious intellectual resources! I’m sure he really could have used the help Robert Anthony, PhD., in trusting his creativity.

The sad thing, is some YA users will not fully read the question and take some parody construct seriously. Some sect-like hominy about you, your ego, your ‘right’ to be a movie star and based on sheer ego will vault some barely talented person into the world of classical composition…. oh wait, its already happened …. A Monsieur Verre, etc.

All we need is a Tom Cruise of Composers……….

some positive thinking techniques for exams?
What are some ways in which someone can learn positive thinking techniques?
and also, what are some positive things they can say to themselves?

    • Anonymous says:

You can do a process called visualization. The night before the exam (or even minutes before the exam) close your eyes and visualize yourself effortlessly answering the exam. Visualize yourself being relaxed and happy. This way, your brain will know what you desire and then it will find ways on how to make this visualized image come true.

You can also say to yourself, “I am totally resourceful while answering this exam” or “I am intelligent” or “I am confident that I will score high on this exam” etc.

Hope this helps and good luck! =D
