Personal Growth Quiz: Test Your Level of Self-esteem
Author: Lynn Pierce
Every day I hear people from all walks of life saying things that literally cut them off from their own personal growth and total abundance. Things like, “I just can’t seem to get ahead,” or “I can’t believe I always do such stupid things.” Hearing those things is such a shame because it’s so unnecessary. If you were fully aware of how you talk to yourself and talk to the world about who you are, you’d be shocked. We’re all guilty of this to some small degree, but for many their self-talk is debilitating.
Take a minute to answer these questions:
Are you talking yourself out of living your fullest life with the self-concept you’ve created?
Who do you tell yourself you are with your self-talk?
Which of the following scenarios is closest to your self-talk? Maybe you are saying to yourself, “This is the year I’m going straight to the top,” “This is the year I become a superstar,” or “I’ve got everything going for me and this is my year.” Or you could be telling yourself, “Things don’t look like they’re going to be much better this year; in fact it might be a little worse than last year,” “Maybe it’s time for some belt tightening; I don’t want to take any chances,” or even “You never know what could happen, better to be safe than sorry.”
Is there any doubt in your mind which of these examples shows the confidence that will build self-esteem, and which are the ones that demonstrate low self-esteem?
Here are a couple more personal development questions in follow-up:
Which type of self-talk creates a better atmosphere for personal success and living an abundant life?
What do you think is the difference in income and professional development between people with these two types of self-talk?
What goals do you think each of these people possesses?
Who is having more fun and excitement?
Who do you want to be?
Your level of self-esteem sets the personal success bar for everything about you. Every decision you make is filtered through your self-concept. Your self-concept is the out-picturing of your self-esteem.
Take a look at just eight reflections of your level of self-esteem:
1.Your career choice
2.Your friends
3.Your primary relationship with another
4.Your level of income
5.Your home
6.Your car
7.Your free time and hobby choices
8.Your vacations
Changing what you believe about yourself will change your life in an instant.
Build self-esteem and you will build your self-concept. But, your self-concept requires attention and care to be maintained. It’s not as simple as saying you feel good about yourself and that’s the end of it.
Do you know that your self-talk comes at the rate of a magazine page of text every single minute of the day? That’s a lot of talking to yourself! If you fill your mind with positive input, it’s a pretty good bet that most of your self-talk will also be positive and foster personal and professional growth.
Use this personal growth quiz to become aware of your self-talk. By changing what you say to yourself and transforming what you believe about your personal success, you will automatically build self-esteem.

Best City In Michigan for a Small Starter Family? Room for personal growth (career, school, hobbies)?
Hi, I’m from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and I’ve come down state with my hubby in pursuit of better jobs, but we haven’t had much luck! Right now, it’s just us and one little guy.
We are interested in having the option of technical training or certification at the moment, I was going to pursue college for Liberal Arts and Sciences later on. The hobbies we like to engage in together are outdoors activities such as fishing, hiking, canoeing, and hunting. We have also shared a history of playing soccer. Personally, I enjoy water sports above all else. I have also taken on yoga and martial arts. I am also an occasional artist and foodie.
A few things I love about our area at the moment I may not want to let go of are farmer’s markets, kite skiing, yoga instructors, two near-by ok colleges, midwives, an arts council, a wonderful library that has great programs for kids and teens, and an arts academy for children up to the 8th grade. However, I would like to keep my options open!
Being from Michigan, I would say that Grand Rapids fits your criteria the best. You can get out of the city within a half hour to do the nature things, you are 45 minutes maximum from Grand Haven/Holland for the water sports, and a generally a great place to raise kids. I would choose a surrounding town of GR proper.
Does anyone know of a good financial goal coach?
I have read a lot of books on investing, personal growth and goals. I know Rich Dad and Loral Langmeier (sp?) offer very expensive programs. Does anyone know of anyone that offers a good coach to keep you on track and help developing your investments in such areas as real estate and business?
what do you mean by “developing your investment in real estate and business”? This make no sense to me.
Do you have an investment plan?
Is it written down?
Does your investment plan address your needs up to death?
What are some good gap year programs that focus mainly on self discovery and personal growth?
I’m looking for a gap year program that isn’t just purely traveling, but also a program with mentors that help guide you towards independent living and getting to know yourself better.
Have a look through some of these perhaps: http://www.thetravellerslounge.co.uk/gapyears/working-abroad/
Good songs for a powerpoint presentation about growth, change, youth work, buses, technology or recreation?
I am making a powerpoint presentation/slideshow at work and need some funky backing music. It will be approx 5-6mins long (this is flexible though) and probably be played on a continuous loop. I’d like to use a couple of songs if possible and preferably newish or well known songs.
For a bit of background – the presentation is about an upgrade to our service. I am a qualified Youth Worker and currently operate a converted passenger bus that is fitted out with computer games, electric guitar, keyboard and board games etc. I take this bus to places where young people hang out, such as skate parks etc so they can come on board and utilize the equipment. I also provide information and support on a number of youth issues such as alcohol/drugs, sexual health, mental health, homelessness, job seeking etc. I also run personal development programs on these topics with high school students.
The bus that I currently work from has been updated so I am making this presentation to show at the launch of the new bus. The new bus will provide the same service but is updated with state-of-the art music equipment, 5 LCD TVs, PS3, Wii and Apple Mac computers with full internet access.
So the themes for the songs I am looking for could include growth/change/reinvention, youth, technology, fun/recreation, information, education, buses… or anything else you think is appropriate! I could even go with instrumental music, as long as it’s funky and progressive.
Please help I am really stuck!
Below is slideshow songs suggestions list, see if there is any song you will like.

do you do community service in the AVID program?
i am going to be a freshman in high school and i am goin to be in the AVID program. i got a letter in the mail and it said ” you will expreience personal growth through community service”‘ what could this mean? help me out please!
I think the program includes community service to make you more rounded. AVID is a program designed to help students in the middle prepare for and succeed in colleges and universities. Students in the program commit themselves to improvement and preparation for college. AVID offers a rigorous program of instruction in academic “survival skills” and college level entry skills. The AVID program teaches the student how to study, read for content, take notes, and manage time. Students participate in collaborative study groups or tutorials led by tutors who use skillful questioning to bring students to a higher level of understanding.
