Processes For Developing Personal Training Business Ideas

Author: Morgan Le Fay

Processes for developing personal training business ideas are most often one of the first activities a future business will engage in after the decision to start up the business is made. It’s always a good thing that a personal trainer has gotten ready to deliver training. Once that’s in the bag, the actual real work of business can then begin.

Deciding to start a business is always a cause for celebration. But what sorts of effective and timely ideas can be generated to get the business off and running on its own two feet? Are there logical processes for coming up with those ideas? Or will a placard be stuck on a window and the business grown in catch-as-catch can fashion? If so, chances for ultimate success are diminished greatly.

Every successful business is the result of the outcomes of a well-developed business plan. The personal trainer, in this example, can write it or engage the services of a professional to have it written. Today, there are also several good business plan software programs that can make it possible to create a thoughtful personal training business plan in relatively short order.

Software programs also exist, and can help the trainer deal with not only client fitness management, but also the entire business cycle within the trainer’s own business. This makes it possible for the trainer to focus initially on getting the actual activity (personal training) of his new business going. And all programs are able to be modified as needed, which is another attractive feature.

Think of things this way: If you fail to plan, you might as well plan to fail. Most business boils down to this simple axiom. In fact, the planning process demands the creation of ideas which will eventually make it less likely a training business will fail in the long run. A wide range of activities, from the name of the business to how invoices are generated, can arise from the planning function. Most importantly, planning can help the trainer figure out just what it is he or she will offering to customers.

It’s important to keep in mind that most people care very little, at first, about who the trainer is or what his or her qualifications are. They, however, care deeply about the state of their personal fitness and how they might be able to go about addressing it. And in this fact lies the reason for why ideas need to be aimed at helping a business demonstrate how it will help a customer.

Now, after all these ideas have been developed, it’s necessary to pause for a short time and then go back and reexamine them. Many times, it’s the case that ideas thought up in haste or with little consideration will look less palatable in the harsh glare of reason and logic. When such a thing happens, fall back for a moment and find better ideas until there are enough to get a business off to a good start.

Processes for developing personal training business ideas need to be an integral part of any prospective business entity.

Grants for education – I suggest you explore all federal funding and grant options at the Federal Student Aid website http://federalstudentaid.ed.gov/

You may also want to read the Handbook of the Pell Grant — this is an 86 page document that contains everything about the grant
      http://ifap.ed.gov/sfahandbooks/attachments/0203Vo3MasterFile.pdf

Or you can call the Federal Student Aid Information Center http://www.ed.gov/programs/fpg/gtepfpg.pdf at 1-800-433-3243 and inquire about the process of getting grants for school

For “personal growth” – no such thing. The government is NOT in the business of giving away free money for the sake of giving away money. There are no grants for paying bills, for getting out of debt or for buying a car.

As for grants for starting a business, it is hard to find grants to start a business. Unlike the myths that some perpetuate, federal government and even private foundations hardly give grant money for a for-profit business. And yes, grants mean PAPERWORK – lots and lots of it, that is why a cottage industry of grant writers was born.

Nonetheless, you can go to the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) http://www.cfda.gov and Grants.gov http://www.grants.gov – these are two sites created by the federal government to provide transparency and information on grants. Browse through the listings and see if you can find any grant that would support a for-profit venture.

Even if you buy books on “how to get grants” or list that supposedly has information on grants — all of them are mere rehash of what CFDA has, albeit packaged differently. But still the info is the same – hardly any grants for starting a for profit business.

Even SBA does NOT give out grants. From the SBA website http://www.sba.gov/mostrequesteditems/CON_FAQ2.html

      ————————————————————-
“The U.S. Small Business Administration does not offer grants to start or expand small businesses, although it does offer a wide variety of loan programs. (See http://www.sba.gov/financing for more information) While SBA does offer some grant programs, these are generally designed to expand and enhance organizations that provide small business management, technical, or financial assistance. These grants generally support non-profit organizations, intermediary lending institutions, and state and local governments.”

Here is a listing of federal grants for small businesses. See if there is any available for individuals for starting a business — THERE’S NONE.

Most of the federal grants are given to specific target groups with specific requirements (e.g. minority business owners involved in transportation related contracts emanating from DOT – Grant#20.905 Disadvantaged Business Enterprises Short Term Lending Program

How many people suffer procrastination in their personal, work, or academic lives? How does it harm ?
Procrastination hurts everyone to some degree. I want to know how it affects people in their daily lives regarding school, work and personal matters including self development and relationships.
Does it prevent people from achieving heir goals, from even setting goals? Does it thwart business growth? Personal growth? How does it make people feel abut life, about themselves, about opportunities in life?

I wish i wasn’t such a procrastinator! It effects me on a personal level. At work if I have to get something done, it’s different cause thats my job. but when it comes to things like planning a personal trip, or daily thing like cleaning or plucking my eyebrows or exercising, I’m so Damn lazy! I wish it was different, but there is just always something else to do…
      (eye roll… blah!)

Struggling with a marriage proposal. He doesn’t believe in personal growth/dreams…?
I’m going to make this short and sweet. My long term boyfriend wants to get married.

He is a very realistic/practical sort of guy.

I’m a more dreamy, artistic type.

We’re both in our mid thirties and want a family.

He is very financially secure and has his own business.

Thing is, he thinks I should have gotten all of my ‘dreams’ and ‘personal growth’ out of my system before I settle down. He says that marriage/children is all I need. I’m aware this is more of a personal belief but I’m wondering what most of you think about this. He doesn’t want me to ‘follow my dreams’ of being an artist in the future. He says that it’s all in my mind and I can be just as happy with a family as I would be chasing personal selfish aspirations. I don’t want to be famous, just self-aware. Is this wrong? What do you guys think?

    Thank you.

Havent you answered your own question in the introduction?you two might find that you balance one another well, but dont sacrifice your dreams, they are part of who you are, part of the growth of your soul..i would suggest postponing things for a while,a long engagement might be a good idea.you need to be you and to be loved and supported for being you,if you let go of your dreams you may find yourself holding it against him later, children are fulfilling,i have three and one on the way,but i am still me…still have hopes, goals, dreams aspirations..things i want to do other than nappies and dishes, bedtime stories..love my husband, adore my children, but still need to walk my own path through this life.best of luck
