Fear Change? 5 Tips for Personal Growth and Transformation

Author: Joan Marie Whelan

Franklin D. Roosevelt said at his first Inaugural Address, “…the only thing we have to fear is fear itself.”

This statement is so true in so many ways. When we fear change, we aren’t necessarily fearing the change, we are fearing the unknown; and the unknown can sometimes be scary for some who aren’t ready to embrace the possibilities that lie within the transformational process. Following are five tips to overcoming personal fears for personal growth and transformation:

1. Acceptance that change happens: When change is presented, don’t automatically assume that it will be negative. You must view change as an opportunity. Sometimes, change happens to motivate or inspire us to take us in a new direction. Change also happens to help us understand what we need to do in life to improve our circumstances and relationships – both personally and professionally.

2. Self-discovery: Change is a time for self-discovery. At this crossroad of our lives, we need to seek within for the strength and courage to overcome fear of the unknown. When we do, we discover a wealth of intuitive knowledge that will help to lead us on our journeys.

3. Patience: Patience is one of those virtues many of us don’t like to practice. It is, however, necessary to practice so we can sift through the new conditions that are being presented to us. By becoming more patient, we learn how to become cautiously optimistic. Optimism is what allows us to move forward without regret.

4. Design your outcome: When you become an observant and not an active participant in the external changes that are happening around you, you are able to intuitively design the outcome that you want. Meditate on the goals you want to reach during this time, and facilitate the changes that are happening to create your own destiny.

5. Embrace your destination: Once you’ve overcome the initial change that has occurred in your life, embrace your destination. The most important part of life is experiencing the adventure, and daring yourself to explore the many facets of life, which you have not yet discovered. Remember, life may present challenges – our reaction to those challenges is what determines our outcome. Develop your inner wisdom to realize that change happens, and use that wisdom to manifest personal growth and happiness in all things. I like to think of change as my opportunity for greatness and I am always seeking to become better.

When you experienced the most growth & change?
Since adolescence, in what three-year period do you feel experienced the most personal growth and change?

[Personally, it would be these last three years from 19-21 [which will end in about 25 minutes when I turn 22]. I started as a kid fresh out of high school & away from home. I partied, hooked up, & tried everything while drifting through life & College for two years. Then when 21 came around, I realized everything I’d done wasn’t who I wanted to be & I ultimately ended up reevaluating my entire life to turn it into something positive. Experienced many hardships & lost many friends along the way. Would do it all again :) ]
*when do you feel you experienced the most growth

for me it was a tie. 19-21, and again 24-27
right after 30 were also big, awesome changes, but not quite as fundamental.

what do you think about this personal change and growth essay?
does anything need to be changed this is in chronilogical order and my teacher wants it this way anthing do i need to change? grammer?

Change and growth is a very important factor in a person’s life. People are constantly changing and growing. Weather they are changing from a loss or a gain. This can be a very important factor in a person’s life. The decisions in our life define what kind of person we are.
When I was 10 years old I cat an Abyssinian cat named Tony. I loved being around him and playing games with him. Day, by day Tony seemed to be gaining more weight. Tony would just sit on the couch when I came home from school, doing absolutely nothing. Therefore, my dad and I took Tony to the veterinarian. “Tonys heart is failing, he is a very ill cat” stated the veterinarian, so my dad and I took Tony home and hoped for the best. The next day I had came home from school, I saw my mom and she had looked upset, I knew Tony had passed away, I was devastated and had no idea what to do.
When I look back at Tony’s death I realize that he was not a major part of my life, however I will never forget it. I now realize that Death is just a part of your life that you are going to experience it at one point or another, and you have to learn to deal with it. It has been weird with my cat not being around but I have adjusted to it. I am doing just fine now without Tony.
Tony’s death reminds me of the song “Open Arms” by Journey. “Living without you, living alone, and this house seems so cold with you, wanting to hold you, wanting you near me.” This song reminds me of how much I miss Tony. I am living without Tony and this house seems so cold without him. Sometimes I just want Tony near me and I just want to see him.
I had learned a valuable life lesson through this experience. I learned that nothing last forever. Loss is just a part of life. In life you have to be strong and prepared. The strongest in life will die and the weakest will survive.

“People are constantly changing and growing. Weather they are changing from a loss or a gain.” should be “People are constantly changing and growing whether they are changing from a loss or a gain.”

“The decisions in our life define what kind of person we are.” should be “The decisions in our lives define what kinds of people we are.”

“I cat an Abyssinian cat named Tony” should be “I had an Abyssinian cat named Tony.”

“Day, by day” does not need a comma. Neither does the next sentence.

This is just a recommendation, but I would change “Therefore, my dad and I took Tony to the veterinarian.” to “My dad and I were concerned, so we took Tony to the veterinarian.” or something like that.

““Tonys heart is failing, he is a very ill cat” stated the veterinarian, so my dad and I took Tony home and hoped for the best.” should be ““Tony’s heart is failing. He is a very ill cat,” stated the veterinarian. My dad and I took Tony home and hoped for the best.”

“The next day I had came home from school, I saw my mom and she had looked upset,” should be “When I came home from school the next day, I saw my mom and she looked upset.”

“When I look back at Tony’s death I realize that he was not a major part of my life, however I will never forget it.” should be “When I look back at Tony’s death I realize that while he was not a major part of my life, I will never forget him.”

“Death” should not be capitalized in the next sentence. The word “it” after “experience” is not necessary, either. There should be a comma after “but” in the next sentence.

There should be a comma before “and I just want to see him.”

“I had” should be “I have.”

“Nothing last forever” should be “nothing lasts forever.”

I don’t understand the very last sentence.

I hope this helps, and I’m sorry to hear about your cat.

Has anyone heard of “The Earth’s Frequency”?
Apparently between now and the year 2012, there will be a shift in the earth’s frequency, and it will be vibrating at a higher level.
They say that certain people can be sensative to this shift.

And it can make you have an overwhelming urge for change, personal growth, creativity or wanting to learn new things.
    Or all of the above.
Has any one heard of this. Or since the new year have felt differently toward ur life in a posative way.
This is a serious question, i am genuinely interested

WE have been on a frequency of 7.0 hertz for the last 24,996.5 years. In the last 40 – 50 years that rate has been gradually increasing and in 2012 it will be at 12.0 hertz. At that point we will be 5th dimensional beings. 4th and 5th dimensions deal with ESP and “feeling” other people’s thoughts and ideas. There will no longer be any secret thoughts after 2012. They will be sensed by all.

This is a VERY REAL thing. There will be some complications in that there are already 4th dimensional beings operating here now and have been since 3000BC. They have enjoyed anonymity since we only see their 3 dimensional forms but in 2012 we will see the Bush’s and the Windsor’s as they truly are. I won;t go any farther on this since I’m sounding odd to myself and I don’t want to wipe out my credibility to those who have a hard time listening to what I have said so far and if I go farther they will NOT be able to follow in their minds at all. The Sevenfold Journey covers it I believe and there are all sorts of books that discuss the phenomenon that is happening.

Indigo Babies are children born after 1988 and they are “wired” for the new world. You can identify these kids just by looking them in their eyes and feeling the energy. They will probe your mind and you will feel it. They are very wonderful, incredible, and interesting beings. The most modern version of homo sapiens.

Most people have been feeling this change for about 20 years. In the 1960′s you could look over at someone driving down the freeway and they wouldn’t even “feel” you looking at them. Nowadays when I look at someone in traffic they IMMEDIATELY look over so rapidly that it seems like they would snap their neck but ESP is definitely at work.

All of my friends are also of the same belief and are eagerly awaiting 2012. We’re trying to figure out if we’ll be able to trans-dimensionalize if we enter a vortex. I’m tracking down all the vorteci in my area and have my eyes on one REALLY big one in Mexico that no one really knows about yet unless they have traced the grid intersections that expose its existence.

Congrats on your perspicaciousness. Not many people are aware of the “shimmer rate” increase. Maybe we’ll see the Incas and the Mayans once again unless they take off again and ascend one more level ahead of us.

You deserve a star for this one.

      :-)
      Peace y’all
