Students’ Personal Career Development Counseling – Its Benefits And Importance
Author: Abhishek Agarwal
It has become the practice for high schools in United States to observe Career Days for senior students for many decades now. On this day high school students are introduced to various careers open to them by local business professionals in the school. However, these days are proving insufficient to enable the students of high school to plan their future. That is why most middle-aged adults and youngsters seek the personal guidance of coaches in career development.Personal coaches in the field of career development offer a very essential service to people who are late planners of their careers. A lot remains to be done to help the youngsters in career development. When the best career options are enumerated for students of high schools, it helps them develop a better understanding of the careers they would prefer, resulting in more efficient planning and more enrollments in colleges leading to a more productive future society.
For many high schools, the practice of a Career Day has taken the form of a whole Career Week to tackle these issues. A couple of days in this week are utilized to introduce the seniors to various career pathways by seasoned community professionals. The assessments resembling those by personal coaches in career development are taken up during the remaining week.
These assessments help the students of high school to become aware of their strengths and weaknesses and also to explore where their values and interests lie. These assessments are then fed to a computer system. The system generates a report outlining the best career options for that particular student. The students then go through further training via Handbook of the Occupational Outlook.
The Handbook of Occupational Outlook is a top rated career development tool for personal career development in the arsenal of high school. The Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics of the United States has put this publication in electronic form as well as in the book form. This enables the students to access valuable information about details of career, industry outlooks and job prospects for the future, the education required and average salaries.
When these assessments of career development of high school students are over, they undergo interviews with either the counselor of the high school or the coach of career development. These students are led through the interviews to explore fully the career options, have discussions with the coaches and reach decisions about the field in which they want to make their careers. Then several resources are provided to the student of the high school to give him a start on his career development path.
Another aspect of activities of career development is that the counselors or the coaches of personal career development visit the senior classrooms and take important sessions on goal setting and its importance in career development. These students get resources to set their goals practically and begin to pen down their plan for personal career development.
Although personal career development concept and its importance is not new for students of high schools, plans for personal career development education are being put into place by schools only now. These initiatives will prepare more and more students of high schools to begin careers or education as soon as they finish high school, thereby leading to a more productive future society.

How far is musical education vital to personal development?
Who has the answer….?
Music helps to heal a great many things within ourselves. Its like the lit candle of awareness in an otherwise dark conciousness.Something that some cling to because its their only friend or their piece of hope left to them. For some its a desire and for others its a passion. And for many many its a strength unto itself it does what other things can not such as evoke memories, create moments, and unify a great many all at once.
When a woman is pregnant they tell her to play music or even sing to the unborn baby. Not just so the baby will recognize her voice but also to stimulate the baby. They say playing music to an unborn baby helps them mentally develope and grow. When my daughter was in my belly we did in fact play her classical music and she had her favorites she would roll inside of me and kick me and some music would put her right to sleep. It was a stimuli for her the lit candle of awareness in an otherwise dark conciousness.
Some say it isn’t vital but could you imagine a world without music?Could you imagine a world where people didn’t further their knowledge of music or pushed themselves to go deeper into their own music?I certainly couldn’t and I don’t think those who have a true gift given to them such as instruments or words that create the flow of songs or even those who just hear the music itself or those who were born to sing.
I think its vital to all of us.And especially those who truly feel the passion to learn more for those gifted enough to be more.I think its vital to ALL personal development but we are individuals and the choice to know more is singularly ours…
Just My Thoughts,

Discuss the payoff of education in relation to personal development, effective citizenry, and upward mobility.
The personal development one gains from higher education levels is the increased ability to think critically about issues, which assists in problem solving skills, decision making skills, and enhances capacity for knowledge of how and why things are the way they are. Effective citizenry accompanies the skills gained from personal development, enabling one to have a better understanding of worldviews. The greater the ability to think critically and utilize working knowledge, the more effective they will be as a citizen and they will be more likely to be an active participant as a citizen. There’s a positive correlation between education level and income. Higher educated people have the knowledge, training, and skills to attain higher paying positions with higher job security. Income levels are the driving force to gain resources toward upward mobility.
Is high school education enough for one’s personal intellectual development?
If you didn’t go to college, did you cease to grow intellectually and what kind of work do you do?
Depends on the person.
College costs money so you can not fault people for not going.
Passionate about personal growth and development—Looking for higher education opportunities or jobs?
I’m 22 years old and about to graduate college from Santa Clara University in the Bay Area. I’m incredibly interested in personal growth/development, social dynamics, etc. Does anyone know of any higher education opportunities or possibly career paths down this avenue? Any schools or teaching opportunities? (Psychology isn’t much of an interest unless someone knows a specific type of psychology that would be particularly useful for this) Thank you so very much for your help as I’m trying to pursue something that I love.
For what you say you want to do psychology would be the perfect career choice. There are many ways that working in the psychological field would help you to achieve these objectives. What do you think psychology is about if it isn’t to help people with their personal and social growth?? That’s what people go to therapist for to help with their own personal development and to learn how to get along better with the wider world around them. You should talk to some of the therapist in your school and some one one the staff in the psych department to see what they’ve been able to do with their lives. That would help you. But you would get better responses if you posted this in another area. This area if for parents and students who have learning disabilities.
Can any1 share a vedic hymn on education, or a hymn on personal development?

Vedic hymn are the world of Ved Vyas, I do not endorse to others hymn. I have my own, I can share it with you, one is:-
” I shall not do that what others can do”
