Personal Development Plans

Author: Jim Biscardi

Personal development is important to grow and change as a person. Learning how to change yourself will enable you to have control over your life. A plan is important as well because you will need to have an attainable goal. You can create this plan yourself. You know what goals you would like to reach and exactly what you are capable of. To create your own plan sit down and write out your goals in business or in life, a plan will need a timeline and a break down of exactly what goals you want to have reached and when. Having this plan for your life and for your business will help you to reach the goals you set for yourself.

If you are a self motivator once you have written up your own personal development plan and set forth your goals you will have no problems obtaining those goals. However more people in this world often need motivators to get the job done. Sometimes a reward of getting your goals accomplished is enough and other times people need a coach to help them along. A personal development coach is someone who will help you learn new things, can help you reach your goals, can help manage your life, can help you make changes in your life to become more successful, and is there to support you. A personal development coach can be a trusted individual that will be on your side and help you reach your own goals.

Remember to be patient with yourself and allow some flexibility in your personal development plan. Patience is the key to keeping yourself from being overwhelmed and giving up on your own goals. Your plan should allow you a realistic time frame to reach your goals. Dreams can come true one step at a time, and each goal reached is a dream realized. Being flexible with your own personal development plan is also important because sometimes life can change. Creating a plan that is reactive to things that will naturally occur will allow you to not be stressed over these occurrences. If you have a coach they can help you understand how to accomplish this task while writing your plan. A big part of the process is to learn how to adapt and grow as a person, and flexibility is a big part of that.

If you are unsure how to go about creating your own personal development plan finding a professional life coach, or a personal development coach will be a great asset to you. It is their job to understand and teach you how to create the plan, and follow it. Unlike a therapist, a personal development coach is ready to look toward your future instead of digging into your past.

Who is Obama’s life (personal) coach?
Who is Barack Obama’s life coach? I believe Obama must have passed through personal development training or life coach. Who is his coach?

Would you use a “personal development coach”?
I would like to become a personal development coach. I have the gift and strong desire to help people examine their lives to enhance overall happiness. I think this informal approach to counseling with a “regular” person would save people both time and money. Even just talking to an impartial party who won’t “label” them would help people relax and open up. What do you think?

The field is saturated with “life coaches” and similar.

      It is extraordinarily competitive.

In addition, some “coaches” have found themselves in legal hot water in terms of their services bleeding over into the fields of counseling and psychotherapy (which require a license to practice – not unlike medicine).

My advice to you is to carefully consider your options before you give a single dollar to ANY organization claiming to “train” or “accredit” coaches. The profession at the moment is NOT regulated. Therefore, any “training” or “accreditation” you purchase will likely be invalid if the profession ever does become regulated by the state.

With Obama’s promise to socialize medicine in this country, you can be virtually assured that lawsuits against “coaches” who are actually conducting psychotherapy or counseling will soon follow.

Best of luck to you in your decision-making process,

How do you find out what you want from life?
I dont know how else to put it. Im passionate about martial arts, about personal development coaching, have survived alot of ups and downs in the last 30 years, i love to teach, i love to see people achieve the most out of themselves, and yet i am still doubtful of doing this as a profession. How do you know if its the right decision to make? You’d think by my age i would know it (30).

Life coaching in group towards personal development..Do you have any advice?
    Hi!

I’m a life coach, but I have only been coaching single individuals, I have had education about how to lead groups, but I still miss some information, at least it feels like that. Do you know a good book or another recourse? How to work with groups, different techniques and thing slike that..
    Thanks!

      Hi!

Typically good coaches will use and follow these principles:

      * Listening is more important than talkin
      * What motivates people must be understood
      * Everyone is capable of achieving more
      * A person’s past is no indication of their future
      * People’s beliefs about what is possible for themselves are their only limits.
      * A coach must always provide full support
      * Coaches don’t provide the answers
      * Coaching does not include criticizing people
      * All coaching is completely confidential
      * Some people’s needs cannot be met by coaching , and coaches recognise clients with these needs

I don’t really know that much about life coaching but I think it’s an awesome profession.

      Best of luck.

Why is there no section for Life Coaching and Personal Development?
I often need information on these two and other related yet none of the categories really address this.
