How can I join, or create a network of new entrepreneurs/business real estate investors in NJ or NY?
I’m just about to get started. For the past year I have been mentally preparing myself to become a business owner / real estate investor. I have been reading books, listening to CD’s, and learning of the accomplishments of some of the most successful people of the yesterday and today, people like Dale Carnegie, Robert Kiyosaki, Earl Nightingale, Dolf Deroos and etc…. I have read and studied about many very successful companies. I just purchased an existing business, and taking the leap. I would greatly like to increase my leadership and networking skills. Also, I’m always looking for knew forms of education when it comes to personal development, business, and investing, I’ll study anything, so any shared experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to help.

Yahoo can help. (No, I do not work for Yahoo)

Learn more about Yahoo Groups. I have used Yahoo Groups to create to National Networking Groups for my industry and one local group.

When you meet other potential investors, buyers, sellers, tenants, etc. it makes for a great “intro” to ask them if they would like to join your “Northeast Real Estate Investment Group” (Or whatever you want to call it.)

Most people will ask you what that is and it provides you with an opportunity to pitch your business in a very “non-threatening” way.

      Also, look into:

      http://www.linkedin.com

This is sort of a “Six Degrees of Separation” networking tool and is, in my opinion, an excellent resource.

      http://www.plaxo.com

This is a “Smart Address” tool and very handy in keeping up with people as their contact information changes.

(NOTE: I am not connected in any way with any of the above mentioned services. I just use them!)

      I hope this helps…

      Bobby

Will business property development cause personal property value to go up built within a few blocks of it?
Since I purchased my new home 4 years ago, within 1/2 mile there has been a new movie theather, restaurants, and a new chain furniture store built. Also rght across the street have just buit 4 new houses and they are now for sale. Will this activity affect my home property value in any way? Of note, within the city they are also builing a new town center outdoor mall and condos with a 1 million price tag per unit attached (within 3 miles of me).

Generally the type of development you are describing is good for your property values, because it puts services and activities that residents like to have conveniently near (shopping, dining, movies, etc).

The houses all for sale might temporarily diminish the value of your home, because if too many properties are for sale then there is little demand. However, having more homes around is rarely bad from a valuation standpoint and should be good long term.

The type of development that would be detrimental would be things that would cause problems – like industrial businesses with loud machinery noises or odors, or businesses that have piles of waste or other eyesores. Another problem would be houses built of a type and style that do not fit the style and character of the neighborhood. For instance if all the older homes are brick, but the new homes are cheap stucco.

What are these personal development business opportunities about ?
I have often come across these work from home websites and wonder do any of them yield any realistic success.
The prolonged details seem to steer around outlining exactly what the ‘work’ involves form day to day or month to month and how an income is actually made. They insist on no selling or keeping stock and not being MLM. Can anyone tell me more ?

Some work, some don’t, But you only get out what you put in, You need a site which has a good history and one with good content, you do not want to buy into a site which says do this then does not give you more options if ‘this’ doesn’t work, I use moneylitho.com a site where there is a tonne of different ideas and quick start methods, if you don’t like one or are not sure how to work it there is a training package just for that one topic or move to another topic – and it works -within 24 hours I had made extra money and still do.

Can you charge personal development expenses to the business account?

    • Anonymous says:

Does the personal development have anything to do with the business like educational
courses directly in line with the business?

Then it would be educational expense – but if it is not related to the business at all
it is not a business deduction.
