how can I start life coaching in puerto rico?
I have a bachelor’s degree in social work and really like the idea of life coaching vs. talk-therapy. I am interested in some ideas on how to get started and if I have to take specific classes, ect. I just finished school but have been in the mental health and chemical dependence field for some years now and tend to have a pretty realistic outlook on life. Help!
It would be best if you take a course and get ICF certification in Life Coaching. Life Coaching is not like therapy: you are not the expert; the client is the expert on his/her life and you are there to ask the right questions to help the client discover how they should proceed. You are there to mirror the client, help them set goals and hold them accountable for the goals that they set.
Hope this helps.
are there any networking groups for building businesses in the field of education and life coaching?
I have bloglogged and aol journaled about how the educational system and work experiences create doubt, lack of creativity, loss of identity, confusion of what are true purpose is in reaching our goals in life. Basically, they crush our dreams and unmotivate us to continue learning. I have blogged and journaled about the resources and ways we can untrain the mind from all the negative learning that takes a piece away from us as who we are as individuals. Learning how to unlearn what society thinks is good or appropriate for us, whether it be school or work or relationships. How can I get people to comment or rss to my blogging. It seems like im writing to myself since I cant seem to reach other via internet. What are some ways I can reach more discussion boards and people to grow my business in this area of untraining the mind from undue expectations the world puts on us that truly are not healthy for our individual growth and self esteem?
Hi There,
Would you like to start a yahoo group. I would join and invite a few more to join in. Hopefully with that we can get more people to network and we can benefit each other.
Perhaps you could start the group with a small core team and set the group policy or ground rules with its commitment expected from each other.
Let me know if you are starting the group and want me to contribute.
Good Luck
How can I get into psychology/counseling/life coaching?
Not help, the profession! That’s what I want to do, but I’m not sure how. I know there’s years of school involved for some degrees, but I don’t mind. Please list different methods (quick ones a plus). I’m not sure about being a school counselor, but I might decide to go into it.
First decide which of the three you are interested in (of course, you can get information on each of them before you make your decision.) They are not the same professions.
Why Are Life Coaching Schools So Weird?
I’ve been trying to find a good life coaching school to enroll in. I prefer a correspondence course. I was in rolled in one school called The Hollistic Learning Center and I learned alot of stuff but it was all VERY VAGUE Eastern Philosophy. They wanted 7 answers per question and the answers were VAGUE because it was all Eastern Philosophy. I did not complete. Then I enrolled very briefly in a Christian Life Coaching School and after the interview over the phone they emailed me telling me that they prayed and the Holy Spirit told them to refund my money and not let me be a student. Then I looked into a Life Coaching School through Bob Proctor that costed $5,0000 – $18,000. I’m not willing to pay that much money. Life Coaching Schools are STRANGE. Does anybody know of a good life coaching correspondence that is Cheap, Easy, Makes Sense and is welcoming?
