Executive Coaching – A Tool for Best Performance

Author: John Peterson

Coaching is a technical term that grooms a professional with better guidance, support and technical assistance! Are you really tired with your work? Are you facing troubles? Why not get a coach? Ask your friends or any other successful professionals or executives – they would definitely encourage and recommend getting the assistance of executive coaching.

Quite a few individuals describe it as a type of counseling, whereas others think it as a field in itself. Selecting an executive coach requires lot of research and here are some professional tips that will help you to find the right one:

Check through their track record: This is one of the promising factors you must examine, because it helps you to find their ability, professionalism and their relationship with the executives. Remember, their coaching relationship must have resulted with excellent turnouts. Otherwise, it is just fruitless to hire him.

Coaching issues should be discussed: With the challenging needs to be met, make sure to discuss the complex issues which many leading performing professionals confer with their respective executive coaches. Strategic thinking, negotiating, handling organizational politics, accelerating the accountability for a better follow through, life work balance issues, career planning and many other complex issues should be discussed.

Examine their years of experience: Their professionalism and field of expertise must be examined, because it is hard for a novice to train and guide you towards the success path. Getting an executive coach with good years of experience and proven success records is encouraging, because they know how to elevate your intelligence personally and technically.

The thing is about online and other distance degree programs is that if they are accredited (there is a board for state as well as federal accredidation) then you can use the degree(s) you get to move up in a job, apply for a job that requires a certain degree, etc. What you cannot do is teach with it. That’s a whole other ball of yarn. To teach at a University or college in the U.S. you need to have graduated from a degree program at a recognized University or college. Now it gets confusing with teaching credentials for K-12 teaching. You need to check with your state on the requirements, but most want a four year degree from a recognized AND accredited University or college and added to that they have othr requirments. Here in California it’s called a 5th year, and then you have to take two tests BEFORE you can go into the classroom.

So to answer your question of should you take the class…sure, but it won’t serve any purpose if you want to teach. Credits also won’t be applicable to colleges or Universities. BUT, if you want to better yourself, or enhance your work resume, then absolutely!

    E-Mail Addiction!!!????
PHILADELPHIA (Reuters) – Alcoholics have one, and so do drug abusers. Now people addicted to e-mail also have a 12-step program designed to tackle their obsession.

An executive coach in Pennsylvania has devised a plan to teach people how to manage the electronic tool, which some users say can be as much an intrusive waste of time as it is fast-paced and efficient.

I scoff at this concept as I scoff at “Sex Addiction”.

These trendy addictions divert attention from and may tend to trivialize REAL ADDICTIONS.

The 12 step formula is a good approach to almost any aspect in life I will not deny that. Been to a couple of thousand A meetings myself.
But save the word ADDICTION for the real thing.

    Concur?
thats a couple of thousand AA meetings.
I hate typos that I can’t go back to correct
    RAAAAHLY I DO.

The cost of the program being a non-issue, is it worth the time and personal investment to pursue a Psy.D. in Executive Coaching? I am currently pursuing a Masters degree in Psychology and will take a couple of executive coaching courses; any supporting help is much appreciated.
