I am planning to take up Change Management (ITIL ) as a career . is it good ?
good in the sense ( money , career growth all factors inclusive )

    • gregorit says:

ITIL Change Management is not a “career”, it’s a set of vocabularies, processes and methodologies. If you’re really asking whether being familiar with it is enough to land a good job, I would say “No”. Having it in your toolbox as an experience or skillset will help qualify you for some positions but it’s generally just a checklist skill. Bear in mind that ITIL is not likely to be used in small companies, at least not rigorously, so if you were making that your main field of expertise you’re likely to end up in big companies. From a career growth perspective, you’d be well advised to have a variety of change management/quality management frameworks under your belt. (Getting certified/belted and having experience with the various software tools supporting these methodologies is often critical!)

      Good luck!

What is change management all about?
Change management seems to be all about changing your plans, quite inappropriately.

So the leader can expect to be told.

“None of our computerized systems work.
We upgraded them overnight 3 times.
All of the upgrades were no good.
Our new policy was to only keep 3 back-up versions.”
To “Sam Sharpe” : terrific . thanks.

I have an MBA in Human Resource Management and I am interested in working internationally. I am a US citizen.?
I have several years in recruiting, change management and succession planning.

    • larasing says:

A lot of the global companies (Fortune 500) will love to have you since they need to export their recruiting standards overseas. But it also depends on
      - are you currently employed, esp. employed at a firm with oversea presence, preferrably expanding their presence? If so you can ask to be transferred to the oversea office
      - what language skills/international experience do you have? Do you have a cultural understanding for where you are going? I think these will weigh in as well.

Since you’ve already had significant HR experience, you could either ask your colleague who’ve worked overseas, or even just ask yourself the question: if you are interviewing this candidate for an oversea HR position, what would you be looking for? and then apply what you think is important to assess yourself.

What is a change management plan report?

    • Jon S says:

Basically it is a project management status report.

Most companies will have a number of change initiatives in play at any one time, and like any other projects, these need to be be kept under scrutiny by the executives responsible.

      A report should highlight
      - where we are in terms of the timetable
      - where we are in relation to the budget allocation.
      - provide an analysis of the variances to plan, with explanations of what the consequences in cost or time will be.
      - an analysis of issues arising in the course of the work which may entail a change in the project scope which will make material differences to the outcomes.

Finally, revised forecasts, taking into account all the above for sign off by the execs concerned.

  5. STARYDYNAMO says:
