How to Become a Teacher
Author: Darren Ferguson
Have you ever wondered what it takes to become a teacher? Have you always thought that you would like to become a teacher but didn’t exactly know what it would take to make that dream come true. First of all you have to have a big heart to be a teacher, you have to love kids, and you have to have a desire to better the world. If you have these three things then you are far closer to becoming a teacher than most. Many people go to school, take all the right courses, and get all the good grades but do not have that underlying passion to carryout becoming an actual teacher. There are many traits that you must acquire mutually exclusive of the schooling to become a teacher with merit. You might think that teaching is all colors, numbers, and games but if you can remember back at all you might recall that you actually learned stuff. Obviously to become a teacher you have to be on top of your games in terms of knowledge and being able to handle a classroom full of kids. Another big aspect of being able to make it as a teacher is gaining the respect of your students, for if you don’t have respect you will not be able to fully get to the kids. If your students respect you then you have the ultimate tool to be able to really teach the kids instead of playing babysitter.
In order to become a teacher you not only have to have your undergraduate degree but you also have to get your masters in order to teacher for a certain amount of time in certain school districts. Every single school district and state is different in which there are different rules, regulations, standards and certification measurements. To become a teacher in the state of New York compared to the state of California is completely different. In one you have to take certain classes during your first two years in school and at the other you have a completely different set of certification requirements. If you gain a teacher’s certification in one state, it is very likely that you will have to take the certification requirement board in another just to keep your title. You can gain a teachers job without having your masters, but only for a certain length of time. In order to keep your job and become a teacher with the right credentials you must gain your masters. This will ensure that you are completely knowledgeable in the subject matter and that you have demonstrated that you are qualified for the job. You too can become a teacher to ensure that you are truly giving back to your community and making the world a better place. There is so much to give in this world and becoming a teacher is one of the best things you can do as a career to truly get something back without even knowing it.

How do you become a teacher in Texas?
I know you have to get a degree (like I want to be a Biology teacher, so I would have to have a degree in Biology), but how exactly does a teacher become certified in Texas? Do you take classes or just take a test or what? Also, how long does it take to get certified?
Either you go to college and major in education or you can get into the ACP (Alternative Certification Program). Either way, you need a college degree and you have to pass and exam TEXES to get your license.
What do I need to do to become a Jr High or 9th grade History teacher in Texas?
I am currently enrolled in American Public University my major is in 18th Century History. I have not chosen a minor and am in the military. I will not be done with my degree until 2012, that is also when I will be out of the Army. So, the question is will my bachelors be enough to become a teacher in Texas. I know I must take the certification test from Texas.
Make sure you’re taking some education classes. You might want to check out the website teachintexas.org
Google that and make sure it’s the correct link. I think it is but I’m not sure. >>>
How can you become a teacher in Texas with a foreign bachelor’s degree ?
My boyfriend is from Argentina and has a bachelor’s degree. We will be moving to Texas together and would like to know how can he become a teacher? I’ve heard you take a 5 week course, and make some exams to get certified. Any info ?
Check with the Texas Department of Education – they’re the last word on how it’s done.
What are the requirements to become a teacher in Texas?
I don’t know much about becoming a teacher. Not too long ago, I decided that I didn’t want to fulfill my dream of becoming a vet and now I think I’d like to become a biology teacher. I’m a freshman in college and taking care of the basics for now.
If you’re a teacher or know a lot of information about this, please help me out. I’d like to know everything.
The Education department at your college can give you guidance as to what classes you need to take. Texas teachers are certified through the State Board of Educator Certification. Their website is http://www.sbec.state.tx.us/SBECOnline/default.asp
Usually science teachers teach more than just one science, but at a big school you might be able to teach all biology. If you click on the tab from the site above that says “Certification Information” it will tell you everything you need to know.
Good luck.
How will a DWI conviction affect my ability to become a teacher in Texas?
I am certified to teach middle school science, biology and special education, however I am facing a DWI conviction will this affect my ability to find a job as a teacher in Texas?
This is something that only the local school systems can answer. My suggestion is to call them and find out.
